| About the painting - by Daniela Ria:
Spinone Italiano in 1800 Landlord suit. The breed is believed to have been developed in the Piedmont region of Italy. The Spinone is believed to be one of the oldest gundogs in existence. The breed was named after an Italian thorn bush, the pino, which was a favorite hiding place for small game, being safe, away from larger animals who could not get in. The Spinone was bred with a thick skin in order to be able to follow the game into bushes. |
