Borzoi (Russian hound) in late 19th Century Moscow. "Borzaya" ("quick dog") is a Russian term for various types of native sight hound. The breed was primarily used in hunting hares and scare wolves away. During the Russian Revolution, many Borzoi died. Still, there were several types of Borzoi found in the Russian countryside after the revolution. |
